Day 29: shoelaces

I have nothing profound to say about shoelaces... who does? Hope you like the photo!

Day 28: Silhouettes

The Great Salt Lake. To most is just a smelly waste of water. To me it is comfort. solace and a sense of what is important. Every time I am feeling down or lost or stresses I end up at the Lake. Photographing the lake helps me see Utah in a whole new light. It is like being near the ocean for me I could spend all day just looking at it!
Well I was out at the lake today watching the sunset I managed to snap a few pics.
This is the smoke stacks at Kennecott Copper Mine from across the street.

Day 27: Horizons

At the Great Salt Lake watching the sunset over the horizon one of the best things. Although I love it out there, so much so that I had my bridals taken on the beach. I hardly ever make it out to watch a sunset. But my new job has allowed new opportunity to go to more places and is only 15 minutes from the lake so I am already half way there. I have a feeling I will be taking in more sunsets on the beach this year.

Day 26: Time

Time.... such an important part of life. But why? I hate that I have to watch the clock and check the time 500 times a day but we do what we have too!

Day 25: Sky

Last week was my first week back to work and I get a great view of the sunrise every morning! This is the beautiful sunset Friday morning!

I saw the color and the snow on the mountains and thought I need to take this picture......thank goodness I had my camera!

Day 24: Shallow depth of field

This is the best  picture I have taken..... in my eyes anyway! This reminds me of my childhood.
The weeds fields and the feeling that there is so much space. I love it and long for it.

Day 23:Fill Frame

What a cute nose!!!!!

Day 22: Button

Vintage buttons, my favorite kind of buttons..... most of these are actually from my great grandma! In fact these have been with me for 15 years and I have yet to find something to do with them except for leave them in a drawer! And I guess take a picture.

Day 21: Fine

I don't really do a lot of  'fine' art photography, but I want so bad to get more into it. I know it will take a while but I did do a couple of photo shoots. I found it to be the funnest thing.
I would love to do more of these in time!

Day 20: Texture

This is my scarf I got it from my husband. I really like it because it is so textured and warm.

Day 19: Moving target

Went to the Sundance Film Festival this week! It was such a blast we saw a great film, Celeste and Jesse Forever. Can't wait for it to open in the theaters. On the way home Jeff and I stopped to get a picture of the freeway. I have been wanting to go and play with long exposure for a while and I have always wanted to shoot
the freeway. So I finally found a minute to do it. We found a walkway over the freeway so we went. As we are walking to the walkway I found some ice and went down!!!!! OMG!!! Smacked my head so hard but all I could think was is my camera okay?!?!?!? Lucky it was fine not a scratch! I on the other hand have a huge bump on my head. I am sure I will survive but it was worth it. Got some fun shots and I think they turned out!

Day 18: Water

I really like the vial look with waterfalls! I know my mom doesn't but I think she is wrong!

Day 17: electrontics

Electronics..... I have a ton of electronics hanging around but my favorite would have to be my Kindle! I just love it. When I first got it I wasn't sure about it but now I love it so much! Couldn't live with out it!

Day 16: Reflections

Finding water in winter is usually hard to do however it has been unusually warm this year so most ponds are not frozen! So I was able to find a couple of great reflections!

Getting back on track

The past two weeks have been absolutely crazy! I found and started a new job! YAY!!!! Then in the process of it all with the stress and everything, I got sick..... headaches and the works. I can't believe it. :( Now trying to find the motivation to shoot as well as work and keep up with my house hold and not want to die is taking all the strength I have. But I am going to try! So here we go starting again and getting back on track!
Starting to shoot and workout and work... it is gonna be hard but I will do it!

Day 15: Zippers

Zipper..... I never realized it would be so hard to take a picture of a zipper!

I tried 9 different times but this is the best I got! :)

Shoes

My sister had some shoes bedazzled. The artist Sarah De Azevedo does such a great job with the shoes and sells them on Esty - locust of the sea. She is so talented she makes earrings and pins and will Jazz up anything!
Here is a little look of what the shoes look like

Day 14: Lines

Downtown I walked through an 'archway' and I thought it looked really cool.
So I grabbed my camera and what do you know it was pretty cool! at least I still think so!

Day 13: fruit

Fruit! As you all know I don't have fruit in my house and it is January sooooo there is no fruit on the trees. So I have to settle for going to the grocery store and again people were staring at me like I was nuts taking pictures in the grocery store. However if I hadn't gone I would have NEVER found this crazy lime. And now I get to have this awesome picture of this crazy Lime! :)

Day 12 Minimal

I saw this at the library last week! I thought it perfect for this!

Day 11: landscape

I LOVE where I grew up! I grew up right out side Salt Lake City. It was surrounded by fields, and all these years later it still is! I love it. It looks to me like its out in the middle of nowhere even though there is a Walmart just down the street! LOL

Day 10: Clouds

Clouds..... well we have relatively clear skies this winter.... almost no snow and almost no clouds. But that is sure to change. I was out shooting over this last week and I shot this picture of these power lines. I an really happy with it. i love the sun in it and that there is nothing else in sight but the lines and the clouds in the distance.

bunnies

So I am going through some pictures today and ran across this. This is my bunny Wednesday, we adopted her about 3 years ago. She made friends really fast with our other bunny Munch (I will post him later). She was so cute, it took us just 5 weeks to house break her. But we did it! She was loved and Loved her gigantic Condo. She lived outside and managed just fine for 2 and 1/2 years, until sadly she got an ear infection. That winter was so weird it was super cold then warm then cold and she just couldn't handle it. We found out when she started walking like she was dizzy and took her to the ER..... The ER? For a rabbit? But we did what we could for her. But no matter what we did she was at the end. The doctor gave her some medication and it caused kidney failure. So although she did manage to over come the ear infection, that most rabbits don't get over she died.... from kidney failure. We miss her so much but at least she isn't in pain anymore.

This is Munch, our first baby! I had never touched a bunny but we didn't have time for a dog. So our compromise was a bunny. As we drove to my moms house we saw a sign for Lop Bunnies and we called, the guy told us to stop by, so we did. We walked in and saw the most adorable bunnies and they let me hold him. The little stinker kissed my face, what kind of bunny kisses? Well this one does all the time! Even after 5 years       he is still the nicest bunny.   Every time he runs away the people at the animal shelter want to keep him cause he is the coolest thing. He even walks like a dog and is leash trained. We trained him to walk on a leash hooked to a clothes line in our backyard . So nice!

This is his favorite hiding place while he is out on his leash! He will sit and dig for hours! And he is always so happy to just sit in the dirt! I know I want a dog but getting a bunny was a great stepping stone! Now I am ready for a dog though!

These are just some random pictures of how much they loved each other!  Well enjoy! :)

Day 9: Signage

Signage..... I wanted to take a picture of an old sign... well..... this is what I found
I spent the whole day shooting with my little sister. She helped me find a unique view on things it was such a blast! I would have never thought of this as photo worthy signage, haha,  but I think it turned out great!

Carter and Beck

Carter and Beck are 3 months old!!
I was lucky enough to be invited to shoot some 3 month portraits for them! They were so much fun, Carter is a model and absolutely LOVED being photographed, Beck was not so happy.
But we did our best and managed some great shots and their mom Amy was happy with them too! :)

Day 8: entropy

Entropy......
is basically things that are breaking down, devolution.
My house is surrounded by things breaking down.... haha. This bench is always falling apart. I fix it up every summer by fall it looks just like this!

Day 7: low point of view

Low point of view....... huh..... I have in my head what I want to take a picture of for this....but I don't know where to find it: :( however I am out of work so I have all day to drive around looking for the perfect subjects! YEAH!!! So I drove around all day Friday! looking for something to shoot at a low angle....
Well I found it and I am actually pretty happy with it!

Day 6: bread

Bread!
Although bread is not my favorite food, we always have it around.
We use it all the time and have it for almost every meal.
Well I was going to go to the grocery store and snap the bread aisle but ran out of time. So I settled for slices of bread instead!

Day 5: windows

Windows... my all time favorite type of windows would have to be old wood double hung windows.
I am lucky enough to to live in a small bungalow house that has them.
It is so nice in the summer to open the top half of the window to let the hot out!

Day 4: Books

Books.... who doesn't love a good book. My favorite are fairy tales. They are tragic, teach a lesson and can have a happy ending. Just like life! When I was little we had this collection on our bookshelf. Every time we had a slumber party we would pull out these books and read them. Weird I know.... but we weren't normal girls! :)
I was so happy when I found them still on the bookshelf at my moms house I was so happy. And I took them to my house so I could have them for my kids when I get them. :)

Day 3: Music

Music.... well to me music is more that sound.... it is art. Written music is beautiful...to me it is like a painting.

This is Bach....every note is amazing. We are so lucky to have music in our lives and I can't go a day with out!  As I am sure most of you feel the same

Day 2: Pens

Pens..... Really pens?!?!
I don't even get this but Pens I guess it is. We have a pile of pens just laying around our house. So trying to make this "artistic" is the challenge. Well here it is!

Day 1: Chair

This week I start my challenge of 365 photos!
The first photo is a chair, just a chair. Well this is my chair, my favorite chair. It sat for years in my Great Grandpa's (Pappa) bedroom. Every day he would walk past it and place his hand on the back to balance on. Because of that it makes it so hard for me to recover it. Even 10 years after his passing this chair still smells just like him the Pall Mall cigarettes and every thing! Every time I see I see him. I miss him everyday and surround myself with things that remind me of how great it was sitting on his lap.

Happy New Year!!!!

At the start of this new year I am staring a new chapter! I lost my job! On the 31st of December of 2011 I was laid off after 5 and a half years. Although I was told well in advance, like over a year in advance, it still hit me like a ton of bricks! I thought that I would be just fine, but I keep finding myself  getting teary eyed just thinking about it. I was so fortunate finding this great job! Everyone that I worked with was so awesome! I never worked at a company that I felt lost when I left. But Today I am LOST! I will miss them and the company so much that I know it will be hard to find the same kind of "family" atmosphere.
With that said I have a job interview tomorrow. So intimidating I hope I can pull this off and make a great impression so I can start working as soon as I can! Being out of work doesn't fit me at all!
This year I am starting a photo challenge 365 different photos a different "topic" a day. however I don't have the time to upload every day....so I will be uploading 7 photos on Sundays! The motivation to keep up might be the end of me but it will give me something to keep me busy! :)
Have a great 2012!

Day 30: self portrait

Finally!!!! We are done with this 30 day challenge! This is a self portrait but I didn't want to show my face HA. So this is my shadow!  I actually really like this!
